It is my birthday tomorrow and I decided to treat myself to a pair of driving gloves.

Part of the process of buying these gloves involved measuring my hand. That was interesting until I realised that my dominant hand is my right hand so it would probably be easier to measure the left. I eventually extricated myself from the tape measure, and got the required measurement.

Today I have been reflecting back over an interesting week.
It has been a week of holiday from work but I have worked very hard on my business. Two weeks ago I lost my patience with my webhost because of their flakey servers and moved to Hostgator. I have been spending a lot of time transferring sites over and re-building a few of them. If you experienced downtime on any of the sites then this was why!
Mostly it went fine. Just a few teething problems which their technical support helped me to sort out very quickly. I have to say I have been very pleased with the service so far.
I am also involving myself in a new venture. I am having a site built for me (it is very complex) and I have paid $700 to have it done. It will be a portal site for the place where I live. It will have tons of features and will be the “go to place” for information about my area. I plan to monetize this by selling some advertising on the site.
This is my most ambitious and complex project to date but it excites me more than anything I have done before. This is going to be my ticket out of Dudley and into self employment full-time. I cannot wait to get started and get out there showing local business what I can do for them on the web. I have never done sales work before but I know I am a people person and I know I can do this.
For a bit of recreation me and the girlfriends went to France on Thursday. We did lots of shopping, as usual, and of course we had some hilarious moments. Probably the funniest was when we found we were booked to return the following day and for a few moments we all thought we were marooned on the wrong side of the English Channel with nowhere to go. Fortunately Eurotunnel sorted us out and we got home just a little later than expected.
Anita’s daughter spent the entire journey with a bowl on her lap for fear she had a dose of morning sickness. Didn’t know you could get it at night but I wasn’t going to complain. It is my car she was going to throw up in after all.
Speaking of car abuse, Amanda dropped a cigarette on the floor and decided to get out of the car to look for it. I wish she had said she was going to do this as I wouldn’t have chosen to pull away at that moment. I would have waited for her to get out first! I think the drivers in the queue behind were confused by the moving vehicle, open door and the legs hanging out. The car survived the ordeal quite well I thought and it gave the brakes a good test.
My crossfire was away for 3 days during the week being repaired and has come back as good as new. Just leaves me wondering why, as the innocent party, I seemed to get all of the grief.
Anyway back to work tomorrow and I am dreading it. I have felt bad about it before but never quite like this. Some of my friends have already left or are leaving soon. I have to get out for my own sanity or remain and become very bitter about everything.

The day seemed quite normal when I got up. It all went wrong when I got to work at Wolverhampton Street campus. I parked the car, went inside and got to work. Fifteen minutes passed uneventfully and then the world began to cave in.
I was in the kitchen washing my mug and Olly came in and said ‘You better get outside and look at your car - the cleaners have just reversed into it’ And they had. The driver reversed into the front nearside wing and put a big dent in it. These things happen. We did the stuff you have to do and went back inside.
Another 30 minutes passed by and George appeared with 2 students.
“Jean come and have a look at your car someone has reversed into it.”
“Yes I know George. It is all sorted out.”
“But he only just did it.”
“What?”
I was in total disbelief by now.
Yes, a student had just reversed into the front end. Minor damage to the number plate and a slight scuff on the front bumper of my car that should polish out as it is superficial.
The day cannot get worse can it?
I decided to opt for a quiter life at Broadway site. I managed to get as far as the front gate with no drama. As I was turning left to go to the staff car park and was about half way around the corner a stupid woman came at me cutting the corner off. Realising that the dozy cow was about to take my front offside and wing off I steered sharply left to avoid her. Result- I kerbed my nearside rear wheel and tyre. The tyre looks scuffed but the wheel is quite damaged. I need to take it to the wheel place at Brierley Hill for an assessment of repair or scrap it. The car has to go to be assessed at the bodyshop on Monday morning.
Got home safely and decided to go shopping. Before I left I put a load of laundry in the machine. Returned home to find the kitchen flooded as the washing machine that I had suspected was on it’s last legs had given up totally.
Today my husband and I went to get a new machine. As usual he made this into hard work but the upshot is the new machine will be delivered and fitted on Monday morning. Cost of machine £594. Cost for car repairs I have no idea as yet but I know it will end up costing me something ridiculous even though I wasn’t even in the car for 2 of the incidents and I do not think the 3rd one was my fault either.
I am glad to say that Prozac really does work.

I am testing out a new site today. It is a social networking site called qassia.
It works by users rating the stuff you post. You get rated by the users and cannot be published unless you get 7 ratings. Seems quite a fair system. If you do google adsense they have some kind of revenue sharing model but I don’t do adsense so I am only using it to get my articles out there.
Anyway I have put some of my best articles on there. So far my ratings are very poor. I think they only understand articles about Internet Marketing as they seem to be getting very high ratings indeed.

I went to a meeting of people who have the same type of car as me, Chrysler Crossfire. Great fun it was too! The meeting was held just over 100 miles from where I live and as I like driving my Crossfire I decided that my husband and I would give it a go.
The meeting was on a service station at 12 Noon. We were late. I am an idiot and my husband is a useless navigator! We proceeded along the M5 and got off at the wrong junction, made a detour through Stroud and Cirencester before getting onto the correct road. Eventually we made the M4 and argued about whether to go East or West. We chose East in a split second and fortunately guessed right. We arrived about 30 minutes late.
Eight cars turned up which was good for an inaugural meeting, we plan to meet up again in the future. Strange but I was the only female driver. Everyone was very nice and friendly unlike the PT Cruiser Club who were very cliquey and stuck up their own arses. I only met one person in that club that I liked. I hope we will be doing this again, we turned a few heads in the service station car park for sure. Only one person asked if we were an owners club on an outing.
Got some strange looks when we pulled away in convoy to go to the lorry park which was empty. This involved driving through the petrol station forecourt. I bought petrol later on and the guy on the till asked me if I had seen all the crossfires earlier. He was baffled as to why so many appeared together like that.
No-one has gone overboard with modifications. What had been done was discrete and added to the car. I have already been online and ordered a wind deflector for my car from the states. Looking forward to receiving it. Tony says he will pay for it as a birthday present, probably because he liked it and he was feeling guilty about the navigation.
